Senior Accountant

About the role

Nova International General Contracting seeks a Senior Accountant to lead accurate project and financial accounting within a fast‑paced construction environment. The role ensures IFRS‑compliant reporting, disciplined month‑end close, and robust internal controls across multiple live projects.

Key responsibilities

• Review journal entries and balance‑sheet reconciliations for accuracy.
• Record revenue, IPCs, variations, and client billings in line with IFRS and contract terms.
• Execute month‑end and year‑end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations.
• Control subcontractor and supplier accounting, managing advances, retentions, and settlements.
• Prepare monthly project P&L statements, WIP schedules, and cost‑to‑complete reports.
• Manage project cost accounting, budget vs. actuals, margin tracking, and cost‑to‑complete monitoring.
• Enforce accounting controls, support audit readiness, and liaise with auditors and regulators.
• Support cash‑flow forecasting, management reporting, and preparation of financial statements.
• Drive continuous improvement and automation of accounting processes.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Professional certification (CPA, ACCA or equivalent) preferred.
• 10+ years of accounting experience in contracting or construction companies.
• Hands‑on experience with procurement cycles, subcontractors and retentions.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ERP systems.
• Advanced Excel for project accounting.
• Working knowledge of IFRS (WIP, revenue recognition).
