Senior Backend Engineer – Remote

About the role

We are looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join a high‑traffic, technology‑focused client on a contract basis. The position is fully remote, allowing you to work from anywhere while building and maintaining scalable backend services that power critical applications.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, and optimise backend services using modern languages and frameworks.
• Implement and maintain APIs, databases, and micro‑services architectures.
• Troubleshoot performance bottlenecks, bugs, and system failures.
• Write clean, maintainable, and well‑documented code following best practices.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment processes.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior‑level backend engineer.
• Strong problem‑solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.

Required skills

• Python, Java, or Go programming.
• RESTful APIs, GraphQL.
• SQL and NoSQL database design.
• Cloud platforms: AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.
• Containerisation and orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes.
• CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
