Senior Commissioning Engineer Electrical

About the role

The Senior Commissioning Engineer will apply best practices and deep technical knowledge to enhance the commissioning discipline at McDermott. Acting as a mentor, they will share expertise and solve complex commissioning challenges across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Principal Commissioning Engineer and prepare home‑office deliverables.
• Conduct walk‑down inspections, punch listings, and testing of mechanical, electrical and instrument components on site.
• Develop and maintain commissioning manuals, start‑up spares, consumables, and procedures.
• Perform system checks, functional testing, and resolve operational issues during start‑up and performance testing.
• Supervise craft personnel and coordinate activities with other engineers and project teams.
• Liaise with commissioning managers, discipline leads, construction and fabrication teams.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
• 8‑15 years of oil & gas experience with a major contractor or consultant.
• At least 2 years of commissioning and start‑up experience in chemical, refinery or oil & gas facilities.
• Proven ability to communicate technical solutions to both engineers and non‑engineers.
• Willingness to travel internationally for site assignments.
