Senior Cost Engineer

About the role

Wood Group is seeking a Senior Cost Engineer to join its Dubai team. The role supports the cost management of large‑scale capital projects, ensuring accurate forecasting, tracking and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. You will work closely with the Lead Cost Engineer, Scheduler and Project Controls Manager.

Key responsibilities

• Review mobilising/demobilising PAFs and man‑hours for contractors.
• Assist the Scheduler, Lead Cost Engineer and Project Controls Manager with ad‑hoc project controls tasks.
• Capture all incurred costs, including VOWD analysis, and post them against estimates.
• Collect spending and commitment data, compare with estimates and produce forecasts.
• Support quantity tracking, bulk sampling, MTO analysis, unit‑rate analysis and EVM reporting.
• Prepare monthly cash‑flow forecasts and monitor forecast deviations.
• Provide technical oversight of contractors and sub‑contractors for cost tracking.
• Perform cost‑risk analysis and apply results to forecasting activities.
• Assess cost impact of change requests from the execution phase onward.
• Assist with external auditor requirements and maintain EcoSys data.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent (preferred, not mandatory).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in process‑industry production or engineering environments, with large capital project management (> $100 MM); mega‑project experience (> $1 000 MM) is preferred.
• Strong understanding of Project Controls practices.

• Project Controls methodologies (cost forecasting, EVM, cash‑flow analysis).
