Senior Data Scientist

About the role

The Senior Data Scientist will design, develop and deploy advanced machine‑learning solutions that improve reliability, enable predictive maintenance and optimise production in complex oil‑and‑gas environments. Working closely with engineers, subject‑matter experts and business stakeholders, you will turn operational data into actionable, production‑grade models that deliver measurable business value.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and operationalise supervised and unsupervised ML models for reliability monitoring and predictive maintenance.
• Develop scalable solutions using distributed computing frameworks such as MapReduce and streaming technologies.
• Integrate domain expertise in oil & gas to create context‑aware predictive and prescriptive models.
• Lead end‑to‑end data‑science projects from problem definition through deployment, monitoring and performance‑drift management.
• Implement MLOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, model versioning, containerisation and automated testing.
• Collaborate with data engineers and business teams to validate data, interpret results and communicate insights to technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of hands‑on experience delivering ML solutions for industrial use cases.
• Proven experience in oil & gas or manufacturing environments.
• Strong mathematical foundation in linear algebra, calculus, probability and statistics.
• Ability to work independently and lead cross‑functional teams.

Required skills

• Python, R, JavaScript (plus exposure to Java or Scala).
• MapReduce and other distributed computing frameworks.
• Streaming data processing technologies.
• MLOps tools and CI/CD pipeline implementation.
• Containerisation (e.g., Docker) and model versioning.
