Senior Legal Counsel - UAE Corporate & Commercial Law

About the role

Huawei is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to provide legal and regulatory support for its operations in the UAE and across the GCC. The role works closely with internal business teams, government authorities, external counsel and other stakeholders to ensure compliance and manage legal risk.

Key responsibilities

• Represent and support Huawei in dealings with UAE government authorities and regulatory bodies, including coordinating responses to official inquiries and investigations.
• Provide legal support for cloud, solar energy and other business activities, advising on regulatory requirements, new business models, legal risks and mitigation strategies.
• Draft, review, negotiate and advise on a wide range of commercial contracts with customers, suppliers, partners and other stakeholders.
• Identify legal and regulatory risks and deliver commercially appropriate recommendations to internal stakeholders.
• Support major business and commercial negotiations from a legal and risk‑management perspective.
• Coordinate and manage external law firms, monitoring deliverables, quality, timelines and legal service costs.
• Monitor developments in UAE laws and regulations and communicate potential business impact.
• Support legal matters across the UAE and, when required, other GCC markets through occasional travel.
• Assist internal departments in resolving legal matters and ensuring alignment with applicable laws, regulations and company policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Law from a recognized university.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant legal experience.
• Strong knowledge of UAE laws and regulations, especially Commercial Law, Civil Law, Data Protection and Privacy Laws, Labour Law and other relevant regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated experience in contract drafting, review, negotiation and legal risk assessment.
• Experience interacting with UAE government authorities, regulatory bodies or other public‑sector stakeholders.
