Senior Lifting Engineer Appointed Person

About the role

The Senior Lifting Engineer (Appointed Person) will lead all lifting activities on our oil & gas and EPC projects in Abu Dhabi. You will ensure that every lift is planned, approved, and executed safely, complying with ADNOC and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and approve lifting plans, risk assessments, method statements, and crane studies.
• Classify lifting tasks as routine, non‑routine, critical, or complex.
• Select appropriate cranes, lifting equipment, accessories, and methods.
• Verify crane capacity, load weight, radius, ground conditions and environmental factors.
• Conduct site inspections and pre‑lift meetings before work starts.
• Coordinate with lifting supervisors, crane operators, riggers, banksmen, HSE personnel and construction teams.
• Ensure all equipment has valid third‑party certification and inspection records.
• Confirm that all lifting personnel are trained, competent and certified.
• Monitor lifting operations, stop unsafe activities and implement corrective actions.
• Maintain lifting plans, inspection records, equipment registers and certification documents.
• Participate in incident investigations, toolbox talks, audits and safety meetings.
• Arrange emergency and rescue provisions for critical lifts.

Required profile

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
• Valid Appointed Person certification from an approved training provider.
• 5–8 years of experience in lifting operations within oil & gas, EPC, construction or industrial projects.
• Preferably experience on ADNOC projects.
• Strong knowledge of crane operations, lifting calculations, rigging practices and international lifting standards.
• Good communication, leadership, planning and documentation abilities.
• Proficiency in preparing lifting plans using relevant engineering software is an advantage.
