About the role
The Senior Portfolio Manager will lead governance of the organisation’s IT and digital transformation portfolio, ensuring initiatives deliver agreed business outcomes, strategic value and financial benefits. Acting as a bridge between business sponsors, project teams and executive leadership, the role drives portfolio performance, benefits realization and investment optimisation.
Key responsibilities
- Manage and oversee the portfolio of IT, digital and transformation initiatives.
- Establish and maintain portfolio governance, prioritisation, reporting and decision‑making processes.
- Define and monitor benefits‑realisation frameworks, KPIs and success metrics.
- Track planned versus actual benefits (financial, operational, customer, strategic).
- Partner with business sponsors to validate benefit ownership and timelines.
- Provide dashboards, executive reports and performance insights to leadership.
- Identify portfolio risks, dependencies, resource constraints and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure alignment of IT investments with organisational strategy and transformation roadmaps.
- Support business case development, benefits forecasting and post‑implementation value assessments.
- Drive continuous improvement in portfolio management, project governance and value measurement practices.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in IT portfolio management, PMO, digital transformation or program management.
- Proven track record in benefits realization, business case management and portfolio governance.
- Knowledge of portfolio management methodologies such as PPM, MSP, PMP, PRINCE2 or Agile frameworks.
- Strong stakeholder management, analytical, financial and executive communication skills.
