Senior Quality Engineer – Electrical Infrastructure

About the role

Petrofac is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to lead electrical quality assurance on the Das Island site in Abu Dhabi. The role focuses on cable installation, testing, and equipment commissioning to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct cable glanding training and approve personnel qualifications.
• Review and approve cable jointer/terminator qualification certificates.
• Inspect and test temporary electrical works and connections to camp facilities.
• Inspect installation of supports, cable trays, conduits, and underground stub‑ups before cable laying.
• Monitor cable jointing/termination processes and ensure manufacturer recommendations are followed.
• Witness and verify insulation resistance, continuity, Hi‑pot, and final torque tests on cables.
• Inspect cable segregation, trench dimensions, sand bedding, and back‑filling procedures.
• Supervise installation of cable tray covers and equipment at substations.
• Monitor preservation activities and inspect installation of switchgear, transformers, and bus ducts.
• Witness torque, doctor, IR, and Hi‑pot tests of bus bars and related equipment.
