Senior Structural Engineer

About the role

WSP in the Middle East is seeking a highly experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join its Construction Supervision team in Dubai. The role provides technical leadership on major building developments, ensuring structural works are executed in line with approved designs, specifications, international standards and local authority requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead supervision of structural works on large‑scale building projects.
• Review and approve structural shop drawings, calculations, method statements, material submittals and temporary works proposals.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor quality and progress.
• Coordinate with architects, MEP engineers, contractors and client representatives.
• Handle contractor requests for information (RFIs), inspections and technical submissions.
• Identify non‑conformances and ensure timely corrective actions.
• Support the Resident Engineer in progress monitoring, reporting and technical issue resolution.
• Witness testing and commissioning activities related to structural systems.
• Mentor site inspectors and junior engineers.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
• 12–15 years of post‑graduate experience, including at least 8 years in building construction supervision projects in the GCC.
• Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete and structural steel construction.
• Experience reviewing structural calculations and temporary works designs.
• Familiarity with Dubai Municipality, DDA, Trakhees and other relevant authority requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Membership of a recognized professional engineering body (desirable).
