Senior Welding Engineer

About the role

The Senior Welding Engineer will lead the development and execution of welding engineering solutions for fabrication and marine projects. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure welding procedures meet project schedules, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the Project Welding Execution Plan, defining required weld procedures, qualification schedules, and consumable quantities.
• Obtain review and approval of all project weld procedures from customers and certifying authorities.
• Coordinate R&D welding projects, manage testing of qualification coupons, and select appropriate electrodes based on technical and economic criteria.
• Monitor consumable availability, adjust execution plans, and guide welding engineers on codes, standards, and project requirements.
• Support metallurgical, welding, and quality issue resolution through failure analysis and corrective actions.
• Oversee the welding school facility, providing training on automatic/mechanized welding systems and best practices.
• Participate in bid preparation, reviewing specifications, qualification needs, and special execution requirements.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in welding engineering within fabrication, marine, or oil‑and‑gas environments.
• Proven ability to develop weld procedures, manage qualification programs, and interact with certifying bodies.
• Strong analytical skills for metallurgical problem solving and failure investigation.
• Excellent communication and mentorship abilities to guide junior engineers.
