Shift Technician

About the role

The Shift Technician joins the hotel engineering team to ensure electrical systems run smoothly during assigned shifts, handling guest requests and maintaining safe operations.

Key responsibilities

• Report shift activities, outstanding issues and equipment status to the Duty Engineer.
• Perform electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, corrective repairs and preventive tasks on LV systems, lighting, controls, motors and pumps.
• Respond promptly to guest room, public area and back‑of‑house maintenance requests, restoring equipment with minimal disruption.
• Inspect and maintain panels, DBs, MCCs, isolators, breakers, contactors, relays and emergency lighting.
• Carry out safe electrical isolation and reinstatement following hotel procedures and safety permits.
• Support basic operation of BMS, GRMS, lighting controls and other low‑voltage building systems.
• Assist other engineering disciplines with minor plumbing, HVAC, carpentry and painting tasks when needed.

Required profile

• Minimum 2‑year Diploma/Technical Diploma in Electrical Engineering or equivalent electrician certification.
• Experience in shift‑based engineering operations, preferably in luxury hotels or complex facilities.
• Good spoken and written English and clear communication with guests and colleagues.
• Proactive problem‑solver who can work independently and as part of a team.

Required skills

• LV electrical systems and controls.
• Preventive maintenance and fault finding.
• Reading electrical drawings, single‑line diagrams and schematics.
• Safe electrical isolation and reinstatement.
• Basic knowledge of BMS, GRMS and lighting control interfaces.
