Shipping Specialist

About the role

HM Trading, the international trading arm of the Heidelberg Materials Group, is seeking a Shipping Specialist for its Dubai office. You will support the Operations and Chartering Managers in daily shipping activities and ensure smooth execution of charter parties and related documentation.

Key responsibilities

• Support Operations and Chartering Managers in daily shipping tasks.
• Execute voyage Charter Parties and monitor COA shipments according to agreements.
• Coordinate signing of Charter Parties and related documents.
• Conduct laytime calculations and maintain proper documentation.
• Track daily vessel status and update records, including ERP entries.
• Follow up on payment requests, approval processes, and internal documentation.
• Collect emission and environmental data for reporting requirements.
• Review trade contracts and provide input on shipping‑related clauses.
• Communicate with owners, agents, international offices, and internal departments (Trading, Finance, Trade Operations).
• Assist in preparing internal and external shipping reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Business Administration, Shipping or a related field (GPA > 3.00/4.00 preferred).
• Excellent written and spoken English, including shipping terminology.
• Previous experience as a freight operator in dry‑bulk shipping or a similar role.
• Solid understanding of Incoterms, customs and maritime regulations.
• Strong communication, coordination and analytical skills; ability to work under pressure.
• Self‑motivated, reliable team player comfortable in a fast‑paced, multicultural environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Experience with ERP systems (preferred).
• Familiarity with Sedna, Nextvoyage or similar shipping platforms (preferred).
