Signalling Design Expert – Rail Projects

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Signalling Design Expert to lead the design and integration of railway signalling systems for major rail and transportation projects in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operation of modern rail networks across metro, high‑speed, light rail and automated people mover projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and development of signalling systems for Metro, Mainline, HSR, LRT and APM projects.
• Prepare detailed signalling design documentation, including layouts, control tables, interface documents, scheme plans and technical specifications.
• Develop signalling system architecture and verify compliance with operational, safety and performance requirements.
• Coordinate signalling interfaces with telecommunications, SCADA, traction power, track, rolling stock, platform screen doors and other multidisciplinary systems.
• Ensure adherence to international railway standards, client specifications and local regulations.
• Participate in design reviews, hazard workshops, safety assessments, testing, commissioning planning and system integration activities.
• Review consultant and contractor submissions for technical compliance and quality.
• Identify technical risks and propose engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
• Mentor junior engineers and support client meetings, technical workshops and design presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Communications, Control Systems, Computer, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 10–15 years of railway signalling design experience on Metro, Mainline, HSR, LRT or APM systems.
• Strong knowledge of railway signalling principles and standards.
