SME – Hydraulic Systems Engineer

About the role

EDGE Group PJSC is seeking a Subject Matter Expert to lead the design, development, and integration of hydraulic systems for unmanned aerial vehicles. The role combines technical authority, system architecture, and compliance responsibilities within a high‑performance aerospace environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the technical architecture of UAV hydraulic systems, covering flight controls, landing gear, weapon release and actuation.
• Design hydraulic circuits, including power packs, actuators, accumulators, reservoirs, filters and fluid lines.
• Produce system requirements, hydraulic schematics, Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and detailed technical specifications.
• Coordinate integration with mechanical structures, avionics, flight‑control and actuation subsystems.
• Lead functional, leak, endurance and environmental testing programmes.
• Ensure compliance with MIL‑PRF‑5606, MIL‑STD‑810, DO‑160, AS9100 and other airworthiness standards.
• Support FMEA, certification activities and preparation of regulatory documentation.
• Drive R&D to evaluate advanced hydraulic technologies, improve reliability, reduce weight and increase efficiency.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Aerospace or Fluid Power Systems Engineering (required).
• Minimum 10 years of experience in hydraulic systems design and integration for aerospace or defence, with at least 4 years in a senior or SME capacity.
• Experience with UAV, rotary‑wing or fixed‑wing platforms.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Hydraulics, Mechatronics or Aircraft Systems; INCOSE CSEP certification; recognised hydraulic design certification.
