Software Development Lead – Digital Applications

About the role

Etihad Airways is looking for a Software Development Lead to head engineering squads that build and enhance its web and mobile applications. The role blends technical leadership, people management and delivery oversight to ensure scalable, secure, high‑performing digital solutions for the airline’s customers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and mentor cross‑functional software development squads across web and mobile platforms.
• Own technical delivery, aligning engineering output with business and product priorities.
• Collaborate with Product, Architecture, UX, QA and DevOps teams to deliver customer‑facing digital solutions.
• Drive Agile delivery, managing risks, dependencies and delivery commitments.
• Provide technical guidance on architecture, cloud, APIs and mobile technologies.
• Establish engineering best practices for coding, testing, CI/CD, security and platform reliability.
• Champion automation, DevOps and modern software engineering practices.
• Manage team performance, capability development and workforce planning.
• Monitor engineering KPIs and drive continuous improvement.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related field.
• 7+ years of software development experience, including at least 5 years leading development teams.
• Proven track record delivering large‑scale web and mobile applications.
• Strong expertise in modern software architecture, micro‑services, cloud platforms and DevOps.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
