Specialist Corrosion Engineer – 3-year client secondment

About the role

Wood is seeking a Specialist Corrosion Engineer for a three‑year secondment in Abu Dhabi, supporting a major energy client. The role provides subject‑matter expertise in corrosion and materials engineering across a large onshore oil and gas portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development and implementation of corrosion management and mitigation programmes for client assets.
• Conduct Corrosion Risk Assessment Studies (CRAS) and support Integrity Operating Window (IOW) initiatives.
• Review and optimise coatings, cathodic protection systems, monitoring programmes and chemical treatments.
• Enhance Risk‑Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies and integrate them with asset integrity management.
• Act as technical authority for fitness‑for‑service, root‑cause analysis and life‑extension studies.
• Facilitate workshops, technical reviews and stakeholder engagement with client personnel.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Materials, Chemical, Corrosion Engineering or Metallurgy (Master’s/PhD preferred).
• Minimum 15 years of corrosion and materials engineering experience, including 5 years in a specialist or technical authority role.
• AMPP/NACE Corrosion Specialist certification; AMPP/NACE Cathodic Protection certification advantageous.
• API 571, API 580, API 510/570/653 certifications strongly preferred.
• Experience with ISO 55001 asset management and familiarity with regional operator standards.
