Staff Nurse – Operating Room

About the role

The Staff Nurse – Operating Room coordinates nursing care within the surgical suite, providing direct patient care, education and ensuring safe transitions across the continuum of care. The role supports SSMC’s mission, vision and values while delivering age‑appropriate care in line with the UAE nursing scope of practice.

Key responsibilities

• Collects, analyses and documents comprehensive assessment data (physical, psychosocial, emotional, cognitive, spiritual) to determine patient diagnoses and issues.
• Develops culturally appropriate, evidence‑based individualized care plans in partnership with patients, families and the multidisciplinary team.
• Implements the plan of care, performs surgical nursing procedures and administers medications according to organisational policies and protocols.
• Ensures all modifications to the care plan are accurately recorded in the patient’s health record.
• Communicates relevant information across all levels of care and collaborates with team members to maintain continuity.
• Applies cost‑effective resource utilisation while adhering to professional standards and the Abu Dhabi Nursing Code of Conduct.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse licensed to practice in Abu Dhabi/UAE.
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Nursing Scope of Practice and Professional Nurses Code of Conduct.
• Ability to assess, diagnose and prioritize patient needs using evidence‑based techniques.
• Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and patient education.
• Commitment to upholding SSMC’s mission, vision and values.
