Steward – Hotel Food & Beverage

About the role

The Steward ensures the cleanliness and hygiene of the kitchen, store rooms and dining areas in a busy hotel environment. You will operate washing equipment, handle deliveries and maintain a safe, orderly workspace for the food‑and‑beverage team.

Key responsibilities

• Operate and maintain commercial dishwashing machines, hand‑wash stations, pot‑scrubbing stations and trash compactors.
• Wash, disinfect and sanitize kitchen surfaces, tools, knives, silverware and equipment using detergents, rinsing and sanitising chemicals in a 3‑compartment sink.
• Receive deliveries, store perishables correctly, rotate stock and ensure clean wares are stored in designated areas.
• Inspect cleaned items, re‑scrub and re‑wash as needed, and properly break down bus tubs, cardboard and recyclables.
• Empty and maintain trashcans, dumpsters and glass disposal containers; mop and clean all assigned areas.
• Follow company safety, security and hygiene policies; report maintenance needs, accidents or unsafe conditions.

Required profile

• Physical ability to lift, carry and move objects up to 50 lb and to stand, walk or sit for extended periods.
• Willingness to work in a fast‑paced environment, follow procedures and communicate clearly with team members.
• Commitment to uphold quality standards, safety regulations and company policies.

Required skills

• Operation of commercial dishwashing equipment.
• Use of a 3‑compartment sink for washing, rinsing and sanitising.
• Handling of cleaning chemicals and sanitising agents.
• Operation of trash compactors and waste‑sorting equipment.
