Structural Engineer – Bridge Inspection & Maintenance

About the role

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to lead the inspection, assessment and maintenance of bridges and underpasses across Dubai and the wider UAE. The role involves ensuring the safety, durability and performance of critical infrastructure through rigorous inspections and targeted repair programmes.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and execute routine, principal and detailed inspections of bridges, underpasses and associated structural elements such as decks, bearings, expansion joints, parapets, barriers, piers, abutments, drainage and waterproofing.
• Identify, record and classify defects (cracking, spalling, corrosion, bearing movement, joint failure) using standard condition rating systems and recommend appropriate remedial actions.
• Maintain an up‑to‑date structural asset inventory and inspection history, producing comprehensive reports, condition surveys and photographic records for clients and consultants.
• Manage bridge and underpass maintenance and repair works, ensuring compliance with approved drawings, specifications and method statements.
• Provide technical direction for repair activities including concrete repairs, crack injection, waterproofing, protective coatings, bearing replacement, expansion joint repair/replacement and barrier/kerb upgrades.
• Review and approve contractor method statements, repair proposals and material selections.
• Coordinate with QA/QC teams, clients, consultants and subcontractors, and support emergency maintenance responses.

Required profile

• Minimum 8 years (96 months) of experience in bridge or structural inspection and maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of condition rating systems and structural defect assessment.
• Proven ability to produce detailed inspection reports and manage repair programmes.
• Excellent coordination skills with clients, consultants and multidisciplinary teams.
