Student Support Teacher (Elementary) – August Start

About the role

GEMS American Academy in Abu Dhabi is looking for a dedicated Student Support Teacher for the elementary level, starting in August 2025. The role focuses on fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students, including ESL and gifted learners, can thrive.

Key responsibilities

• Uphold GEMS core values of innovation, excellence, lifelong learning and global citizenship.
• Plan and deliver engaging lessons aligned with curriculum standards, adapting to diverse learning styles.
• Maintain accurate records of planning, assessments and attendance while following school policies.
• Integrate media and technology to enhance classroom learning.
• Provide academic guidance, behavior management and promote cultural awareness.
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop resources and support co‑curricular programs.
• Communicate regularly with parents regarding student progress.
• Participate in staff meetings, school events and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Hold a BEd or Bachelor’s degree with PGCE/PGDE or equivalent in a relevant elementary/inclusion specialism.
• Proven experience teaching elementary students, preferably within an IB or American curriculum.
• Ability to share exemplary teaching practices and a creative, enthusiastic approach.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for collaboration with students, parents and staff.
