Teaching Assistant

About the role

The Teaching Assistant at Smart Vision School supports student learning, wellbeing, and safety throughout the school day. Working closely with teachers, the role helps create an inclusive, nurturing environment for all learners.

Key responsibilities

• Assist teachers in delivering lessons and managing classroom activities.
• Provide individual or small‑group support to students who need extra help, including Students of Determination and ELL learners.
• Prepare and organise learning materials and classroom resources.
• Encourage confidence, independence and positive learning habits.
• Supervise students during class activities, break times and school events.
• Promote positive behaviour, respect and inclusion in line with school policies.
• Support students’ social and emotional wellbeing through guidance and encouragement.
• Report any concerns regarding student welfare or safeguarding to the appropriate staff.
• Maintain professionalism, confidentiality and adhere to safeguarding and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with teachers, staff and operations team, and attend required training sessions.

Required profile

• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting.
• Patient, caring and supportive approach to working with students.
• Strong sense of responsibility for student safety and wellbeing.
• Positive attitude and team‑oriented mindset.
• Organised, reliable and punctual.

Required skills

• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and school staff.
• Understanding of child safety and wellbeing responsibilities.
