Trading Operator

About the role

The Trading Operator supports end‑to‑end execution of physical oil product trades, managing voyages from nomination to discharge. Reporting to the Operations Manager, the role ensures accurate capture of transactions, maintains operational records, and provides timely information to Trading, Shipping, Finance and Risk teams.

Key responsibilities

• Execute operational plans for assigned cargoes, handling nominations, laycan confirmations, berth bookings and loading/discharge instructions while escalating contract conflicts.
• Track vessel positions, ETAs and live operational issues; monitor laytime, demurrage, off‑hire and bunker variance, updating the voyage tracker.
• Coordinate surveyors, inspectors and sampling processes, circulate results and manage quality‑related documentation.
• Perform month‑end stock and inventory reconciliations across terminals, vessels and in‑transit positions, investigating variances.
• Support trade finance by checking commercial documents, liaising with Finance for invoicing, and verifying freight and third‑party invoices.
• Maintain organized operational records, develop trackers, analyse performance data in CTRM/ETRM systems and prepare draft operational reports.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Operations, Supply Chain, Logistics, Shipping or Business.
• 2‑4 years of experience in trading or shipping operations, preferably with oil products.
• Exposure to month‑end stock inventory reconciliations and vessel operations.

Required skills

• Working knowledge of ETRM and CTRM systems.
• Strong Excel and data‑handling abilities.
• Understanding of Incoterms, laytime, demurrage and freight‑claims processes.
• Familiarity with voyage and time‑charter party terms.
