UN Driver / Official Vehicle Operator

About the role

The United Nations requires a reliable driver to transport authorized personnel, visitors and goods while adhering to UN safety and security standards. The role combines field driving with basic office support tasks.

Key responsibilities

• Provide transportation for authorized staff and visitors, including basic language assistance and support with visa and customs formalities.
• Maintain accurate vehicle log books, report mechanical status daily, and ensure fuel efficiency.
• Keep the assigned vehicle clean, well‑equipped, and serviced on schedule; report any issues promptly.
• Follow UN field delivery rules, report accidents or incidents immediately, and follow supervisor instructions.
• Perform office duties such as filing, photocopying, handling mail, and paying telephone or other bills when required.

Required profile

• Minimum two years of professional driving experience, preferably within an international organization or UN system.
• Demonstrated safe driving record and experience with various vehicle types (vans, trucks, etc.).
• Knowledge of local traffic regulations, security considerations, vehicle loading capacities, and safety equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, and basic first‑aid procedures.

Required skills

• Defensive driving (desirable).
• Basic radio, email and telecommunications usage.
