University Archivist

About the role

The Library and Learning Commons Department at Zayed University is seeking an experienced archivist to lead the management and digitisation of the university’s archival collections. The role combines strategic leadership with hands‑on archival practice to ensure effective access, discovery, and preservation of historic university records.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and assess digital archive and scholarship initiatives in collaboration with faculty, students and library staff.
• Define and maintain collection policies for records of archival value, both print and digital.
• Oversee metadata creation using standards such as Dublin Core, PREMIS, METS and EAD.
• Supervise technical staff and student assistants, and provide training on digital archive tools.
• Identify, acquire, organise, process and preserve archival records from university offices.
• Serve on university committees and advise administration on archival policies.

Required profile

• Professional academic librarian or archivist with proven experience in managing university archives.
• Strong knowledge of international archival standards and digital preservation frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to lead collaborative projects and deliver training workshops.
