Vehicle Diagnostic Technician

About the role

The Vehicle Diagnostic Technician is responsible for identifying mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults in vehicles using specialised diagnostic equipment. The role supports efficient repairs by analysing system data, interpreting trouble codes, and confirming that issues are resolved.

Key responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic inspections on vehicles to locate faults across engine, transmission, braking, steering, HVAC, and electrical systems.
• Operate diagnostic scanners, multimeters, and other testing equipment to read and interpret diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs).
• Inspect sensors, control modules, wiring, and connectors; conduct functional tests after repairs.
• Assist mechanics and service technicians with complex diagnostic problems.
• Maintain accurate records of findings, repairs, and test results.
• Follow manufacturer procedures, safety standards, and keep tools calibrated.
• Stay updated on new vehicle technologies and advanced driver‑assistance systems (ADAS).

Required profile

• High school diploma (as indicated in the posting).
• At least one month of experience with vehicle diagnostics.
• Technical training or hands‑on knowledge of modern vehicle systems.
