VP Data Transformation – Data Strategy & Governance

About the role

This senior position leads the strategic data agenda for a newly established AI Lab within a leading banking organisation. The role focuses on defining data strategy, governance, operating model and transformation to enable AI, analytics and digital products at scale.

Key responsibilities

• Define and own the enterprise Data Strategy and Data Transformation roadmap aligned with the bank’s technology, digital and AI strategy.
• Establish a comprehensive data governance framework covering ownership, accountability, quality, lineage, metadata, standards and controls.
• Design and evolve the Data Operating Model, specifying roles, responsibilities, decision rights and ways of working.
• Implement strong Data Ownership and Data Stewardship across business and technology functions.
• Drive enterprise‑wide improvements in data quality, accessibility, consistency and trust.
• Develop frameworks for data governance, data products, critical data elements and data domains.
• Partner with the AI Lab and technology leadership to ensure data strategy supports AI, GenAI, advanced analytics and machine learning at scale.
• Lead data transformation initiatives that break down silos and promote reuse of enterprise data.
• Define and enforce data governance policies, standards and controls in line with regulatory and risk requirements.
• Establish KPIs, dashboards and executive reporting for data quality and governance.
• Collaborate with Risk, Compliance, Information Security, Technology and business leaders to manage data within a regulated banking environment.
