Water Boss – Marine Operations Coordinator

About the role

The Water Boss coordinates and supervises all marine support activities for dredging and reclamation projects. This position ensures safe, efficient vessel movements and acts as the main communication link between marine assets, on‑site crews and shore‑based management.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate daily marine operations, including dredgers, tugs, barges and workboats.
• Monitor vessel positioning, arrivals, departures, anchoring, towing and shifting according to approved traffic plans.
• Maintain continuous communication with vessel masters, marine crews and project engineers via VHF radio and other systems.
• Oversee fuel, freshwater, provisions, crew transfers and spare‑parts logistics to minimise downtime.
• Ensure compliance with NMDC HSE policies, international maritime regulations and client requirements.
• Monitor weather forecasts, tide conditions and sea state to guarantee safe marine activities.
• Coordinate emergency response, incident reporting and marine permit acquisition.

Required profile

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Nautical Science, Maritime Studies, Civil Engineering or a related field (preferred).
• 5–10 years of experience in marine operations, dredging, reclamation or offshore construction, preferably as a Water Boss, Marine Coordinator or similar role.
• Valid seafarer’s medical certificate and relevant maritime certifications where applicable.
