Accountant - Chocolate Factory

About the role

The Accountant works in the Finance & Accounting department of a chocolate factory, reporting to the Finance Manager. The role covers day-to-day financial transactions such as accounts receivable and payable, bank reconciliations, payments and receipts, product costing, month-end closing and accurate financial records. It requires expertise in ERP systems (Business Central), advanced Excel skills and a good understanding of manufacturing and retail accounting.

Key responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable and payable, including timely invoicing, collections, overdue monitoring and vendor payment verification.
• Perform bank reconciliations, process receipts and payments, and prepare journal vouchers for adjustments, accruals and reclassifications.
• Analyse product costing and support cost analysis of production and overheads, and assist with month-end closing and general ledger accuracy.
• Prepare MIS reports for senior management and analyse overhead costs and variances.
• Oversee employee expense and petty cash, and use POS and retail sales accounting knowledge to track sales and reconcile revenue.
• Support inventory audits and statutory audits, ensuring compliance with local tax laws and regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Master's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field.
• 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in manufacturing, with exposure to chocolate manufacturing or FMCG.
• Experience in accounts payable/receivable, month-end close and cost analysis.
• Prior experience in statutory audits is preferred.

Required skills

• Strong ERP experience, especially Microsoft Dynamics Business Central.
• Advanced Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, data analysis).
• Familiarity with POS systems and retail sales accounting.
