Assistant Accountant – Immediate Joiner (Fixed‑term, 6 months)

About the role

We are seeking an Assistant Accountant to support the finance team of a government‑owned energy company in Abu Dhabi. The position is a six‑month fixed‑term contract and is intended for candidates who can start immediately and have a background in accounting. You will work closely with senior accountants to ensure accurate financial reporting and compliance with internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
• Process invoices, expense claims and vendor payments in line with company procedures.
• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts.
• Support month‑end and year‑end closing activities.
• Prepare bank reconciliations and maintain the fixed‑asset register.
• Help compile budgets, forecasts and management reports.
• Provide documentation and assistance for internal and external audits.

Required profile

• Relevant accounting experience, preferably in a corporate or government environment.
• Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines.
• Strong numerical aptitude and attention to detail.
