Assistant Commercial Manager

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Commercial Manager with a pre‑contract focus to support our growth plans and work with key clients on high‑profile capital projects. You will join a multidisciplinary team that values innovation, precision, and client‑centric solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver end‑to‑end commercial management from project inception through completion.
• Prepare detailed cost forecasts, budget reports and analyse variances to inform financial decisions.
• Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to estimate project costs, including sub‑consultancy services and overheads.
• Draft and negotiate internal and external sub‑consultancy agreements, ensuring due diligence and valid insurance coverage.
• Initiate and process change request forms and variation orders in line with client procedures.
• Support quality assurance and quality control reviews of deliverables.
• Maintain and update a master variation tracker for ongoing and legacy projects.
• Contribute to group‑level reporting and stakeholder coordination.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commercial management within construction or engineering projects.
• Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle, from business case development to project close‑out.
• Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.
• Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
