Assistant Compliance Manager - Sanctions Unit

About the role

The Assistant Compliance Manager will support the Sanctions Unit in interpreting domestic and international sanctions regimes, investigating high‑risk alerts, and ensuring adherence to the Group Sanctions Policy. This role works closely with senior compliance staff and business units to mitigate sanctions‑related risks.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret and monitor sanctions programmes (UAE, US, UK, EU, UN, etc.) and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of relevant regulations.
• Investigate complex sanctions alerts, review and disposition screening alerts, and provide decisions in line with AML/KYC policies.
• Support senior compliance managers in identifying risk trends, preparing reports, and recommending policy improvements.
• Provide subject‑matter expertise, training, and guidance to compliance staff and business colleagues.
• Maintain records, ensure confidentiality, and coordinate with technology vendors to optimise sanctions and AML monitoring systems.

Required profile

• 4+ years of banking experience, including at least 2 years in compliance or sanctions risk.
• Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to handle complex issues.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Professional qualification such as ACAMS or CGSS is desirable.
