About the role

A leading GCC port operator is looking for a Business Development Manager in Ras Al Khaimah to win freight forwarders, importers and exporters as customers for its cargo handling, roll-on/roll-off (RORO), bonded and customs clearance services. The role is focused on making the port the first choice for import cargo; it is not a freight forwarding sales role.

Key responsibilities

  • Bring new import volumes from forwarders, importers and logistics partners
  • Sell RORO, general cargo, duty-bound and bonded logistics solutions
  • Set pricing, negotiate terms and close agreements
  • Grow revenue from the accounts won

Required profile

  • 8+ years in the port, freight or logistics sector in this market, with at least 4 years in business development or commercial roles
  • Active local network of forwarders, importers and logistics partners
  • Proven record of winning new customers and revenue
  • Must be locally based

Required skills

  • Strong working knowledge of local customs, duty, clearance and bonded procedures
  • Commercial understanding of customs and bonded procedures, not just operational
