Chief Accountant

About the role

The Chief Accountant will lead the daily accounting operations of Grand Mercure Dubai City, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, and support for the hotel’s financial strategy. Working closely with the Financial Controller and Director of Finance, you will safeguard the integrity of financial data and contribute to the hotel’s overall performance.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily accounting activities, mentor staff, and maintain effective teamwork.
• Verify daily bank balances and credit‑card reconciliations for Finance approval.
• Ensure the General Cashier report is accurate and that daily revenue is deposited.
• Perform month‑end reconciliations of all general‑ledger balances and prepare monthly financial statements.
• Review monthly reports such as F&B and Cost Controller reports in line with company policy.
• Oversee timely tax payments and filings, resolving any variances.
• Prepare ad‑hoc monthly management reports as required.
• Assist the Financial Controller with accounting policy application, budgeting, and financial analysis.
• Maintain organized filing of accounting records and contracts for easy retrieval.
• Stay updated on new regulations and Accor policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in hospitality.
• Strong proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Ability to work independently while fostering a collaborative team environment.
