Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

About the role

The University seeks a senior finance executive to lead the financial stewardship of NYU Abu Dhabi. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the CFO will ensure the institution’s financial sustainability, operational effectiveness, and alignment with its academic mission.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute NYUAD’s long‑term business and financial strategy, aligning resources with academic, research and operational priorities.
• Provide fiscal and operational insights to the COO, Vice Chancellor and Provost to support strategic decision‑making.
• Lead the development, monitoring and reporting of multi‑year operating and capital budgets, incorporating data analytics and scenario modelling.
• Oversee treasury, investment management, liquidity, banking relationships and capital financing strategies.
• Manage enterprise risk, internal controls and compliance with UAE laws, NYU global policies and partnership agreements.
• Direct accounting, financial reporting, procurement and risk management functions.
• Collaborate with Government partners to negotiate and manage annual funding envelopes.

Required profile

• Extensive senior‑level finance leadership experience in a complex, multi‑entity organization.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement strategic financial plans.
• Strong knowledge of UAE regulatory environment and international higher‑education finance.
• Proven track record in budgeting, forecasting, treasury and risk management.
• Excellent communication and advisory skills for senior university leadership.
