Consultant – Pediatric Ophthalmology

About the role

Danat Al Emarat Hospital, a leading women’s and children’s specialty centre in Abu Dhabi, is seeking an experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist with strong pediatric expertise and proven capability in Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP) screening.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert ophthalmic evaluation, diagnosis and treatment for paediatric and adult patients.
• Perform ROP screening for premature infants and collaborate with NICU teams for early intervention.
• Manage paediatric ophthalmic conditions such as refractive errors, strabismus, congenital eye diseases and other visual disorders.
• Support outpatient clinics and participate in multidisciplinary paediatric case discussions.
• Deliver surgical and non‑surgical ophthalmic care in line with consultant‑level standards.
• Maintain detailed clinical documentation and contribute to departmental quality initiatives.

Required profile

• Tier 1 Consultant qualification (e.g., CCT or equivalent) in Ophthalmology.
• Demonstrated experience in Pediatric Ophthalmology (mandatory).
• Proven experience in ROP screening and management.
• Strong clinical background in both medical and surgical ophthalmology.
• Eligibility for DOH Consultant Ophthalmologist licensure.
