About the role
A well-established and growing construction company in Dubai is looking for an experienced Contract Manager with proven hands-on experience drafting and negotiating FIDIC-based contracts for main contractors. The role focuses on preparing and drafting FIDIC contracts from the main contractor's perspective, not just administering existing ones.
Key responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate main construction contracts under FIDIC 1999/2017 (Red and Yellow Books), protecting the main contractor's interests
- Prepare and negotiate subcontracts, supply agreements and contractual amendments
- Review and amend FIDIC Particular Conditions to suit project needs and risks
- Manage contract administration across the project lifecycle, including notices, variations, claims and payments
- Prepare and defend EOT, prolongation cost and variation claims
- Identify contractual risks and develop mitigation strategies
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Commercial Teams, Quantity Surveyors and Planning Engineers
- Support negotiations and dispute resolution with employers, consultants and subcontractors
Required profile
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or a related field
- Minimum 8-10 years of construction contract management experience, preferably in the UAE
- Mandatory: proven experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating FIDIC main construction contracts as a main contractor
- Strong technical and commercial understanding of construction projects
Required skills
- Strong knowledge of FIDIC 1999/2017 (Red and Yellow Books)
- Experience with contractual amendments, special conditions and risk allocation
- Experience with EOT claims, variations and dispute management
- Excellent negotiation, analytical and English communication skills
