Deputy Head of Middle School

About the role

American Gulf School in Sharjah is seeking a dynamic Deputy Head of Middle School to join its leadership team. The successful candidate will support the Head of School in delivering high‑quality education and fostering an environment of academic excellence for students aged 11‑14.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Head of School in strategic planning and day‑to‑day management of the middle school.
• Lead, mentor and evaluate a team of teachers, promoting innovative teaching practices.
• Oversee curriculum implementation, assessment and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Engage with students, parents and staff to ensure a safe, inclusive and motivating learning environment.
• Contribute to school‑wide safeguarding policies and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum three years of teaching experience, preferably within an IB framework.
• Previous leadership experience in a comparable role.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Fluent English speaker (IELTS 8+ or equivalent).
• Demonstrated commitment to academic excellence and student welfare.
