Design Engineer – Solar PV Control Panel & Relay Systems

About the role

The Design Engineer will join the Solar PV design team at Emirates Electrical Engineering, supporting the company’s growth by delivering technical designs for solar and electrical projects and collaborating with the BD/Sales and Operations teams.

Key responsibilities

• Perform preliminary data analysis, technical recommendations and detailed design of PV solar assets, including simulations (PV‑Syst, Helioscope, HOMER) and AutoCAD layouts.
• Generate project estimation sheets (CAPEX & OPEX), optimise designs for cost‑effectiveness and coordinate with supply‑chain on product pricing.
• Attend kick‑off meetings, support site surveys, and ensure smooth hand‑over to the execution team for construction, installation and testing.
• Stay updated on new technologies through supplier trainings and propose design optimisations to improve market competitiveness.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognised institution.
• Minimum 2 years of hands‑on Solar PV design experience in the UAE.

Required skills

• Proficiency with solar design software such as PVSyst, Helioscope, SketchUp and HOMER.
• Strong AutoCAD skills for layout and mechanical details.
• Knowledge of ETAP for electrical calculations (advantageous).
• Experience in cable‑sizing, LV/MV panel design and optimisation.
• Understanding of solar product certifications and utility standards.
