Director of Estimation

About the role

The Director of Estimation leads the estimating and tendering function for major construction and infrastructure projects. Reporting to the CEO of the Contracting Business Unit, the role provides strategic leadership across pre‑contract activities, cost planning, bid management, value engineering and commercial input to drive sustainable growth.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the estimating and tendering department across all business sectors.
• Develop and implement estimating strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Review tender opportunities and make bid/no‑bid recommendations with executive management.
• Prepare detailed cost estimates for building, civil, infrastructure, industrial and design‑build projects.
• Oversee bid pricing, tender documentation, commercial clarifications and final proposal submissions.
• Provide strategic commercial input and lead value‑engineering initiatives.
• Identify commercial risks, pricing opportunities and mitigation strategies.
• Collaborate with Business Development, Operations, Engineering, Procurement, Planning and Commercial teams throughout the tender lifecycle.
• Lead, mentor and develop a multidisciplinary team of estimators, quantity surveyors and bid professionals.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading estimation and tendering functions in construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong commercial acumen with ability to provide strategic input during bid preparation.
• Demonstrated capability to mentor and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience collaborating with executive leadership and cross‑functional departments.
