Director of Human Resources

About the role

The Director of Human Resources manages the HR function so that it meets the strategic business objectives of the hotel. The role covers strategy and policy development, and includes guiding recruitment, coaching, compensation and benefits, health and safety, performance management and succession planning.

Key responsibilities

• Guide and direct all HR facets, including recruitment, coaching, compensation and benefits, health and safety, performance management and succession planning.
• Recruit high-caliber employees to help achieve business targets within budgeted staffing plans.
• Ensure compliance with all legal requirements and act as a sounding board for colleague concerns, mediating solutions and initiating change.
• Provide direction, coaching and counseling on HR issues such as performance management and employee relations.
• Maintain high colleague satisfaction and team spirit by supporting hotel core committees, and foster effective communication across the hotel.
• Establish annual objectives, budget and programs for the HR department in line with the hotel's strategic plan.
• Foster a cooperative working climate that maximizes productivity and morale.

Required profile

• University degree in a related discipline or a professional HR designation.
• At least three years of experience in the same role.
• Previous Gulf experience preferred; a track record of career progress and stability is essential.
• Fluent in English; hands-on leadership style and a drive for results.

• Computer literacy, ideally with proficiency in a computerized payroll system.
• HR competencies: understanding the business, influencing outcomes, planning for the business, team building, valuing diversity, leading people, adaptability, customer focus and managing operations.
