About the role
We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead a team of 8‑10 engineers responsible for core trading backend services, including the matching engine, market data gateways, and order entry systems. The role combines people leadership with deep technical involvement in a high‑performance, low‑latency trading environment.
Key responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of engineers owning core trading backend services.
- Guide the evolution of the trading stack from legacy systems to modern replacements.
- Stay technically engaged to unblock issues, review code, and contribute to architecture discussions.
- Champion performance and market data work as top priorities.
- Introduce AI‑assisted engineering practices and help the team adopt them.
- Partner cross‑functionally with product and other engineering pods to drive roadmap execution.
- Represent the team technically with peer teams and stakeholders, communicating trade‑offs and progress.
Required profile
- Experience managing engineering teams, preferably staying technically engaged.
- Hands‑on experience with distributed and/or highly‑concurrent systems on Linux, especially low‑latency, high‑volume transaction environments.
- Proficiency in Rust and/or C++; comfortable working in a team using C++, Rust, Go, and Python.
- Demonstrated knowledge of order types, trading systems, and financial products.
- Proactive mindset with ability to prioritize across a technically deep team and meet aggressive deadlines.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical or quantitative field.
Required skills
- Linux operating system.
- Distributed and highly concurrent system design.
- Low‑latency, high‑volume transaction processing.
- Rust programming language.
- C++ programming language.
- Go programming language.
- Python programming language.
- Experience with Aeron or similar messaging/transport systems (strong plus).
- Familiarity with multicast‑based market data distribution (plus).
- Cryptocurrency/blockchain knowledge (highly preferable).
