Fire & Life Safety Consultant

About the role

WSP is seeking a Fire & Life Safety Consultant to provide expert guidance on fire protection and life‑safety systems for large‑scale projects across the UAE. The role involves developing safety strategies, ensuring code compliance, and supporting design and commissioning activities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical input on fire detection, alarm, water‑based suppression, clean‑agent, smoke control and passive fire protection systems.
• Prepare design submissions, calculations and Fire & Life Safety Strategy reports in coordination with senior engineers.
• Verify that designs and installations meet UAE and international fire‑safety codes through audits, site inspections and compliance reviews.
• Support fire risk assessments, hazard analyses and the development of mitigation strategies.
• Assist with testing and commissioning of fire and life‑safety systems to satisfy regulatory and client requirements.
• Collaborate with architects, contractors, clients and government authorities to ensure smooth project delivery.
• Mentor junior consultants and contribute to business development activities, including bid preparation and client presentations.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related technical field.
• 4–7 years of experience in fire‑life‑safety or fire‑protection engineering consulting.
• Familiarity with UAE building codes and international standards such as SBC, IBC, NFPA and BS.
• Strong communication and leadership abilities.
