Gas Turbine Structural Engineer – Stress & Rotor Dynamics

About the role

POWERTECH, a centre of excellence for propulsion technologies, is seeking a Gas Turbine Structural Engineer to lead stress and rotor‑dynamic analysis across turbojet and turbofan programmes. The role combines advanced mechanical design, integrity assessment and mentorship of junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Design and optimise gas‑turbine systems for life, weight, manufacturability and cost.
• Perform thermo‑mechanical, creep, fatigue and fracture simulations at design, off‑design and far‑off‑design conditions.
• Conduct vibration, rotodynamic, low‑cycle and high‑cycle fatigue assessments.
• Execute FMECA studies to support safety and operability.
• Develop and refine FEA methodologies and provide technical guidance to the team.
• Review designs, prepare engineering reports and define testing guidelines.
• Identify project risks and propose mitigation strategies.

Required profile

• Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering degree (or equivalent).
• 5‑15+ years of experience in gas‑turbine propulsion, mechanical design and heat‑transfer analysis.
• Strong knowledge of mechanics of materials and whole‑engine structural analysis.
• Fluent English communication skills.

Required skills

• Solidworks or Siemens NX (CAD).
• Commercial FEA tools such as ANSYS, Hyperworks or Simcenter Nastran.
• Programming in C, Matlab/Simulink.
• Experience with FEA and lower‑order simulation methods.
