General Practitioner (GP)

About the role

The General Practitioner provides comprehensive primary healthcare to patients of all ages, assessing, diagnosing, treating and managing acute and chronic conditions while promoting preventive care and patient education. The role reports to the Medical Director / Clinical Director within Medical/Clinical Services.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct medical consultations, physical examinations and patient assessments.
• Diagnose and manage acute and chronic illnesses, and develop treatment and management plans.
• Prescribe medications in line with clinical guidelines and order and interpret lab tests and imaging.
• Provide preventive care, health screening, vaccinations and lifestyle counselling.
• Monitor chronic conditions and refer patients to specialists when needed.
• Maintain accurate, confidential patient records and manage medical emergencies.
• Work with nurses, specialists and pharmacists, and take part in quality improvement, clinical audits and continuing professional development.

Required profile

• Medical degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognised institution and a valid medical licence to practice as a GP.
• Completed internship/residency or equivalent clinical training.
• Relevant clinical experience in primary care or general medicine.
• BLS certification; ACLS preferred.
