Head of Global Freight

About the role

The Head of Global Freight will lead the end‑to‑end freight and compliance function across all modes and regions, ensuring a world‑class transportation operation that balances service quality with cost efficiency for the MMI and ELR network.

Key responsibilities

• Define, govern and continuously evolve the Group Freight strategy in line with growth, service and working‑capital objectives.
• Oversee global import and export compliance, including classification, origin, destination and customs governance.
• Set objectives and KPIs for freight performance, lead talent processes and build capability within the team.
• Design and operate a new operating model to deliver best‑in‑class transportation services.
• Lead selection, negotiation and performance management of carriers, freight forwarders and 3PL partners.
• Develop and own KPIs that optimise COGS, landed cost, duties, gross‑margin, overall freight cost, working capital and lead times.
• Drive continuous‑improvement initiatives to monitor and reduce costs.
• Manage transportation and duty budgets, and create a procurement strategy that continuously reviews and optimises costs.
• Build strong internal partnerships with Commercial, Category and Finance leaders to align cost and service goals.
• Establish and maintain a global network of logistics providers, suppliers, agencies and government bodies to ensure seamless product flow.

Required profile

• At least 10 years of global freight leadership experience, preferably within FMCG or food & beverage.
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business Management or a related field.
• Proven experience with multi‑model global freight operations and working closely with freight forwarders and ocean liners.
• Strong knowledge of international purchasing and customs processes.
• Highly analytical, numerate and capable of interpreting large data sets.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Process‑oriented with a systematic approach to problem solving.
