Hub Cargo Officer (UAEN Talents Only)

About the role

The Hub Cargo Officer supports the Cargo Operations Center in Abu Dhabi, ensuring that inbound and outbound cargo processes meet performance targets such as on‑time departure, cargo quality, and revenue optimisation. The role works on a shift basis and collaborates closely with service providers and ground handling staff.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor inbound cargo quality, validate weight and volume, and prevent stow loss.
• Optimise onward connections, manage pre‑alerts, FWB/FHL, SHCs and Cargo IQ messaging.
• Implement best practices with service providers to reduce operational discrepancies and improve capacity utilisation.
• Track red routes, optimise space using cargo load planning tools, and manage load swaps or replacements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, security and regulatory requirements, including proper lashing of ULDs and use of PPE.
• Maintain close relationships with service providers to achieve on‑time departure performance for freighter and RFS operations.
• Support the Duty Manager in meeting departmental and corporate targets, cost‑saving initiatives and safety compliance.
• Conduct spot checks on HDU and TRU units, coordinate volume updates and adjust freight charges as needed.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, coaching and skill development for GHA staff.

Required profile

• Minimum high school education with specialised training in cargo handling operations.
• Successful completion of cargo and dangerous goods courses, plus training in live‑animals handling, aircraft weight & balance and general cargo procedures.
• Flexibility to work various shifts and perform cross‑functional duties.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Cargo IQ system.
• Knowledge of EASC and FAP processes.
• Experience handling Unit Load Devices (ULD) safely.
• Understanding of dangerous goods regulations.
