Internal Audit Specialist – Healthcare

About the role

Dubai Health is seeking an Internal Audit Specialist to lead complex assurance and advisory engagements across the organization. The role focuses on healthcare‑specific risks, regulatory compliance and strategic risk management, while mentoring audit team members and shaping the department’s audit planning.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage high‑complexity assurance and advisory assignments, delivering risk insights that inform annual audit planning and strategic priorities.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to conduct enterprise‑wide risk assessments, develop risk‑based audit strategies and prioritize audit coverage.
• Oversee audit fieldwork execution, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives, quality standards and timely delivery.
• Design, implement and continuously refine internal audit policies, procedures and methodologies, including AI‑driven analytics tools.
• Analyze audit findings and key performance indicators to identify systemic risks and recommend enhancements to clinical documentation, risk mitigation frameworks and governance structures.
• Develop and deliver training programs on compliance standards, healthcare audit best practices and strategic risk management.
• Coordinate with external auditors, regulatory bodies and senior leadership to address audit findings and influence policy changes.
• Evaluate controls through data collection, validation and analysis to assess risk exposure and identify process improvement opportunities.
• Present comprehensive findings and strategic recommendations to senior management, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
• Partner with business, IT and clinical stakeholders to co‑develop sustainable actions that mitigate identified risks and align with Dubai Health’s strategic goals.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading complex internal audit engagements, preferably within a healthcare environment.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare regulations, clinical documentation standards and risk management frameworks.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor and develop audit team members.
• Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
• Relevant professional certification (e.g., CIA, CPA, CISA) is desirable.
