Junior Naval Architect

About the role

DP World is seeking a Junior Naval Architect to support its Maritime Solutions team in the United Arab Emirates. The role involves preparing stability calculations, mooring arrangements and technical documentation for heavy lift and project cargo operations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare ballast, intact stability and longitudinal strength calculations for various operating conditions.
• Develop mooring plans, line geometry calculations and associated technical proposals.
• Support cargo stowage, sea fastening, load distribution and deck strength assessments.
• Coordinate with vessel masters, operations teams and external stakeholders to gather technical data and provide engineering support during mobilisation and sea operations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Naval Architecture, Ocean Engineering or Marine Engineering.
• 1‑2 years of relevant experience in naval architecture, marine engineering or heavy‑lift project cargo.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to engineering accuracy.
• Good written and verbal communication abilities.

Required skills

• MOSES, AutoHydro, Optimoor, Rhino, ANSYS
• AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel
• Understanding of hydrostatics, intact stability, trim, ballast operations and longitudinal strength
• Familiarity with Classification Society rules, IMO requirements and marine heavy‑transport standards
