Lead Design Engineer – Turrets & Weapon Systems

About the role

EDGE is seeking an experienced Lead Design Engineer for Turrets & Weapon Systems (TWS) to drive the development of both manned and unmanned turret solutions from concept through prototype verification. The role blends hands‑on engineering with technical leadership, ensuring performance, quality, cost and schedule targets are met.

Key responsibilities

• Lead design and development of turrets, Remote Weapon Stations and related subsystems, including CAD modelling, calculations and material selection.
• Mentor a multidisciplinary team, define technical tasks, priorities and development objectives.
• Own design packages from concept to prototype verification, supporting manufacturing, assembly, integration and testing.
• Conduct systems‑engineering activities, review Technical Data Packs and manage engineering work packages, resources and risk.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical/Electronic, Software Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in turret and weapon‑system design, with at least 2 years leading engineers or designers.
• Proven track record taking designs from concept through prototype verification.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with CAD tools.
• Experience using PLM and CAE software.
• Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink for analysis.
• Familiarity with Technical Data Packs (TDPs) and systems‑engineering processes.
